Schedule Updates

Major construction on the Albany Avenue project began in June 2017 and is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2020. All travel lanes on Albany Avenue will remain open before 9am and after 3pm. During other hours, partial lane closures may occur. Traffic will be maintained in both directions on Homestead/Westbourne. Business access and pedestrian walkways will be maintained at all times. Week of December 30, 2019

  • The project field office will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
  • Project coordination and planning continue in preparation for upcoming construction work.
  • Snow clearing at bus stops will occur throughout the winter within the project limits.

Week of December 23, 2019

  • The project field office will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 and Wednesday, December 25, 2019.

Week of December 16, 2019

  • Electrical work continues at the intersection of Garden and Albany; expect minor traffic delays and partial lane closures in the area.
  • Traffic signal installation continues between Sigourney and Bedford. Sign installation also continues.
  • Brick paver installation will occur on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine and also on the southwest corner of Burton and Albany.
  • Snow clearing at bus stops will continue throughout the winter within the project limits.

Week of December 9, 2019

  • Electrical work will occur at the intersection of Garden and Albany; expect minor traffic delays and partial lane closures in the area.
  • Traffic signal inspection continues between Homestead and Oakland. Traffic signal installation will occur between Sigourney and Bedford. Sign installation also continues.
  • Brick paver installation will occur on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine and also on the southwest corner of Burton and Albany.
  • Snow clearing at bus stops will continue throughout the winter within the project limits.

Week of December 2, 2019

  • General preparation for winter conditions continues project-wide.
  • Brick paver installation continues on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine and also on the southwest corner of Burton.
  • Electrical work continues on the south side of Albany between Burton and Bedford.
  • Traffic signal operations continue at intersections between Homestead and Edgewood.

Week of November 25, 2019

  • No construction work will occur on Thursday, November 28th. Limited construction activities may occur on Friday, November 29th.
  • General preparation for winter conditions continues project-wide.
  • Paving along the curb line will occur in various places along Albany and within the project area. Paving behind driveways and sidewalks will also occur in various locations. Expect partial lane closures near paving operations.
  • Concrete sidewalk, driveway aprons, and brick paver installation continues on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine. Sidewalk reconstruction will also occur on the southwest corner of Burton and Albany.
  • Utility work continues near the southwest corner of Burton and Albany. Expect minor traffic delays near the Burton/Albany intersection.
  • Electrical work continues on the south side of Albany between Burton and Bedford and will also occur across the roadway at the Garden/Albany intersection. Expect partial lane closures near the Garden/Albany intersection.
  • Traffic signal operations will occur at intersections between Homestead and Edgewood.

Week of November 11, 2019

  • Reconstruction of the Albany/Burton intersection continues. Expect minor traffic delays near the intersection. Burton will be closed at the Albany intersection during daytime work hours only. Continue to use Homestead for access to residences and businesses on Burton, including Coconut Café. Police are on hand to assist with the temporary daytime two-way traffic pattern on Burton. 
  • Sidewalk and driveway ramp reconstruction continues on Burton this week and also on the north side of Albany between Edgewood and Vine. 
  • Installation of conduit and light pole foundations continues on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine.
  • In preparation for winter conditions, temporary paving and patching will occur in various areas throughout the project limits.

Week of November 4, 2019

  • Nighttime pavement marking is scheduled for this week on Albany and side streets between Homestead and Oakland.
  • Reconstruction of the Albany/Burton intersection continues. Expect minor traffic delays near the intersection. Burton will be closed at the Albany intersection during daytime work hours only. Continue to use Homestead for access to residences and businesses on Burton, including Coconut Café. Police are on hand to assist with the temporary daytime two-way traffic pattern on Burton. 
  • Sidewalk and driveway ramp reconstruction continues on Burton this week and also on the north side of Albany between Edgewood and Vine. 
  • Installation of conduit and light pole foundations continues on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine.

Week of October 28, 2019

  • Due to several rain days, nighttime roadway paving and safety marking could continue this week on Albany and side streets between Homestead and Oakland.
  • Sidewalk and driveway ramp reconstruction continues on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine. No sidewalk demolition is scheduled to occur east of Vine this year.
  • Installation of granite curb continues on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine; expect partial lane closures in the area.
  • Installation of conduit and light pole foundations continues on the north side of Albany between Sigourney and Vine.

Week of October 21, 2019

  • Due to several rain days, nighttime roadway paving and safety marking will continue this week on Albany and side streets between Homestead and Oakland.
  • The traffic signals at the intersection of Lenox and Albany will be removed permanently. Electrical work will occur across Albany and side streets between Sigourney and Bedford. Expect partial lane closures near the work zone.
  • Reconstruction of the Albany/Burton intersection will continue this week, pending the relocation of the fire hydrant at the SW corner of Burton. Expect minor traffic delays near the intersection.
  • Drainage work will occur on the southwest corner of Bedford and Albany.
  • Sidewalk and driveway ramp reconstruction continues on the north side of Albany between Edgewood and Vine. No sidewalk demolition is scheduled to occur east of Vine this year.
